Origins of the SENATE

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

The brainchild of Albin Johnson, founder of the 501st Legion and Tom Hutchens, founder of the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club, the Galactic Senate idea came about at a small North Carolina convention in 2011. While sharing a meal, both Albin and Tom conversed with each other about ways to improve communications and cooperation between the large costume organizations.  "We need something like a Galactic Senate, where group leaders can speak with each other, be represented, and share knowledge and wisdom.", said Albin, and the Senate was born.

TODAY'S SENATE

Today the Senate works as a sounding board and community facilitation tool for it's member organizations.  While it is the policy of the Senate to not intervene in the internal issues facing it's members, the Senate often works as neutral ground to propose ideas and tackle community concerns.  At the forefront of progress, the Senate tackles issues like diversity and inclusion, so that no matter what organization someone may chose to represent, they will always feel welcome.
